BMW Motorsport wanted a content feature that promoted their then current car, the M6 GTLM, while also giving a nod back to some of their successful GT cars of the past. I put together a RACER In-Focus with custom photography using both the new car and some cars from their historic collection. The piece was also converted into a stand-alone print and digital version which they distributed during Monterey Car Week and at the Rolex Motorsports Reunion in 2016 where they were the featured marque.

EXCERPT:
As BMW rolled into its 100th anniversary year, it delivered a new platform for its global GT racing ambitions. With the M4 slated to compete in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), and the recently released M235i earmarked for a one-make customer series, the aspirations of GT racing fell to the M6.
Rightly so.
The M6 is a luxury Grand Tourer, which can gobble up ribbons of pavement with a finesse that belies the potency of its intent. DTM racing is all cut and thrust over a compressed timeframe befitting the M4’s aggressive demeanor. Conversely, GT racing, particularly in the traditional aggressive demeanor. Conversely, GT racing, particularly in the traditional endurance racing format, is about poise and confidence in the face of an ever-changing onslaught of agressions. For that, the M6 is ideally suited.
